On June 26, 2023, the 23rd anniversary of the announcement of the completion of the working framework of the Human Genome Project, the BGI Spatiotemporal Center—the global headquarters of BGI Group—was officially inaugurated.

Located on the mountainside of Dameisha, Yantian, Shenzhen, the BGI Spatiotemporal Center overlooks the sea and is nestled against the hills. The complex features a main building shaped like the Chinese character '口' (kou), with a total area exceeding 300,000 square meters.

From the small red building in Beijing and the airport industrial zone where the 'Chinese chapter' of the Human Genome Project was mapped, to the small white building in Hangzhou where the rice genome was sequenced; from the Beishan Industrial Zone in Shenzhen, where the first Asian genome was decoded, to the newly inaugurated BGI Spatiotemporal Center—a future global hub for life science innovation—these structures have borne witness, and will continue to witness, BGI's unwavering commitment to ambitious goals, cutting-edge technology, and integrated industry-academia-research collaboration.Through these milestones, BGI has achieved a historic leap in genomics—from participation and alignment to synchronization and surpassing, and ultimately to leadership and global contribution.
